Fiesta is a unique music ensemble that performs popular and folkloric songs and dances from Mexico and other Latin American countries such as Venezuela, Chile, Brazil and the Caribbean. A FIESTA! performance delights the eye and ear as it introduces the audience to the Music and Culture of Mexico. Dressed in colorful outfits, the versatile musicians of FIESTA! use song and native instruments, like the guitar, requinto, guitarron, accordian, trumpet, folk harp, marimba, violin and a variety of percussion to render authentic versions of Music from Mariachi to the many diverse Mexican regions. Active since 1984, this Hartford based group has enjoyed successful performances throughout New England at major college campuses, schools, libraries, outdoor concerts, senior centers, Wadsworth Atheneum, International Festivals, the Big E for the CT Governor and, recently, at the opening of Linda McCartney's, "Roadworks" exhibit at the New Britain Museum of American Art. FIESTA! is a 12 year member of the CT Commission on the Arts. Funding may be available to you. FIESTA! offers 30 and 45 minute programs and workshops geared around the Mexican Holidays: CINCO DE MAYO-Mexican Independence Day, DAY OF THE DEAD, FEAST OF OUR LADY OF GUADALUPE, THREE KINGS DAY and other International Festivals. A FIESTA! Workshop includes a discussion of the instruments and translations of popular songs like 'Cielito Lindo', La Cucaracha' and 'La Bamba'. FIESTA! members demonstrate how Music is woven into the Everyday Mexican Life of birthdays, funerals, political and religious celebrations, romantic serenading and more. A hallmark of a Fiesta! Performance is the wonderful audience participation of Singing, Dancing, Hand-clapping, Maraca-shaking, and joining in on the 'Gritos'. Energetic and uplifting, a musical presentation by FIESTA! provides an insight into the Spirit, and Mystery and rich Culture of our Neighbors to the South.
The Rhythm Section Jazz Band was formed in June of 2002 for the purpose of reading through the Paul Sherwood Chart Library. This is a collection of over 2,500 arrangements for jazz band, big band, dance orchestras and theater orchestras. This is a "Little Big Band" and has 10 musicians as follows: alto sax, tenor sax, alto sax, trombone, trumpet, piano, guitar, bass, drums and singer The band has held over 55 recording sessions and has evolved into live entertainment playing engagements in Michigan, Grand Rapids, Kalamazoo, Battle Creek, Muskegon, Lansing, Otsego, Gaylord, Rockford, Lowell, Sagatuck, Holland, Ludington, Mount Pleasant, Freemont, Traverse City, Detroit, Ann Arbor, and will go wherever live jazz is needed. Dancers love us. We are a great choice for your event, because, we play in many styles: latin, foxtrot, tango, samba, cha-cha, mambo, begiune, classic jazz, standards, waltz, be-bop, pop-rock, country, polka, music from the 1920's, 30', 40''s, 50's, 60,s 70, 80's, and 90's. From classic jazz to pop-rock, our song selection consists of over 2,500 tunes from the Paul Sherwood arrangement Library. We have worked very hard to put together 'books' of different styles of music to give our clients more choices. We can choose our favorite songs to best fit your event or you can help us choose your favorites. 1. Swing is our speciality. 2. But, if we pull out the 'pop rock book' then get ready to rock, because we play over 150 songs from the 1960's, 70's and 80's. 3. If Dance is your thing, then, let us bounce, jump, fox trot, mambo, rhumba, tango, conga, cha-cha, samba, stomp, swing and waltz your group to nirvana. The Rhythm Section Jazz Band core is a 10 piece 'Little Big Band' and consists of 1st sax alto/clarinet, 2nd sax tenor/clarinet, 3rd sax alto/soprano, trombone, trumpet, piano, guitar, bass, drums and vocalist. If you prefer, we also play as a full big band with 5 saxes, 4 trombones, 4 trumpets and full rhythm section (piano, guitar, bass and drums). Or, we break down to any smaller size combo. Our pianist is available to play earlier for cocktails and dinner or the whole night if that's all you need. We, also, perform as a post bop quartet with saxophone, piano, bass, and drums. If you need a studio band, recording sessions are our bread and butter. We can provide a pit orchestra for your next play, on or off Broadway. The Cain Kelly Band broke on to the Detroit music scene in the spring of 2004 with their electrifying energy and fantastic musicianship. Armed with their debut album, self titled: "Cain Kelly", the band began playing from down river to Oxford and from Saint Clair Shores to Westland. Led by their dynamic front man Cain Kelly the group has been pleasing crowds all over the Detroit area with their straight classic rock 'n' roll sound. Son of local rock 'n' roll legend Kelly Franklin, Cain Kelly has come from a long line of outstanding musicians. "We were extremely happy when our first album got released by Sun-Ray records shortly after we recorded it" said Kelly. The self titled "Cain Kelly" album has gone on to set several records in sales in the metro Detroit area and the best is yet to come because they are currently working on their follow up album with national music producer Dan Crabtree.
