Starting in the summer of 2003, Papa String Band members, Daron LaBruyere and Brett Mello, started turning heads on the rocks of the Broad River. Many would gather 'round to listen to their new take on ol' time bluegrass. In May of 2004, the duo decided to take their act to local bars and restaurants. They've been performing ever since. In January of 2005, talented keyboardist, Will Smith, joined up with Papa String in an attempt by all to stretch the boundaries of traditional bluegrass music. The band expanded their lineup with the additions of bass player, Gary Bishop; percussionist, Jackson Wools; harmonica player, Mike Fore; and Chris Jones on the drum kit. This combination of unconventional instrumentation allowed the band to push beyond bluegrass, opening the doors for new experimentation and endless musical possibilities. The Papa String Band's "signature blend" of music is infused with the influences of blues, bluegrass, jazz, psychedelic, jam and funk. Their music has been described as "Americana," "Jam," and even "Southern fried Grateful Dead." Papa String just calls it, "Funky Newgrass Honk." This is music that captures all ages and leaves fans with a smile on their face. The Papa String Band has evolved into an ever-changing, spontaneous, and unpredictable sensory experience, so "kick off your shoes, and hold on to your booze" cause the Papa String Band's coming to town!

The groups are built from members of The Great Society Band and are perfect for dinners, cocktail parties, and other functions in need of background music. Also these groups perform wedding ceremony music for garden and home weddings. CLEVE EDWARDS, Great Society Music owner/band leader/performer is available either as a background pianist or as a “band of one”. With the aid of modern electronics, Cleve has the sound of an entire band at his fingertips, and his vocals are sure to please. Cleve also performs wedding ceremony music in non-traditional venues.
Todd got the idea to start Almost McGraw eight years ago, after several total strangers approached him and said "Do you know who you look like?" He started his career performing at local bars along with music festivals and has taken off from there. Nearly a decade later, Todd has made appearances in many movies, commercials, and has performed over a 1000 shows nationwide! He has twice been featured in Country Weekly Magazine, appeared on the TNN Country Music Awards with Jeff Foxworthy and has been spotlighted in countless radio shows and newspapers! His spot-on impersonation of Tim McGraw has been performed at casinos and theatres throughout the country however, Todd says his biggest accomplishment to date would have to be his performance at "The Grand 'Ole Opry". Almost McGraw has been described as a mix of country and rock; as well as being known to his fans for a few surprises that one wouldn't expect from a tribute band.
