Day vs. Night a is 3 piece New Wave and Indie Rock band from Austin, Texas. They combine modern and futuristic sounds. Great stage energy and infectious hooks often has the audience members dancing. Day vs. Night has rocked venues across Texas including in Austin, Dallas, Denton, Ft. Worth, San Antonio, Bryan as well as Lake Charles, LA. The band has also been featured on a special morning segment of KXAN TV and local radio. Day vs. Night formed in the summer of 2009; Zafer Hamza (vocals/bass), Troy Hooper (guitar) and Nick Welp (drums) each bring their own rich style to a sound that is distinctive and accessible. Zafer Hamza (vocals/bass) has been singing and playing bass since 14. Zafer studied violin and piano before picking up the bass. As a teen, Zafer performed in Dallas, Denton and Fort before relocating to Austin. He has performed on stages all over Texas with local and national acts, opening for bands like The Scabs and The Toadies. Hailing from St. Louis, MO and then moving to Dallas, TX, Nick Welp (drums) has played drums since he was 12. Taking stylistic cues from rock, funk, jazz and punk, Nick is a unique drummer that is technical while raw, and exciting. Nick's timing and rhythm work with his musicianship and compositional instincts to give Day vs. Night a groove that’s easily remembered. Troy Hooper (guitar, backing vocals) is the band’s renaissance man. Shredding on guitar, keyboards and backing vocals, Troy balances a hard punk edge with a clean electric style. Troy's influences include surf, punk and jazz. Coming from Houston, TX Troy has performed in bands in Denton, Dallas and Austin. Troy's catchy guitar licks and eclectic guitar style give the band driving energy and range. Day vs. Night is looking for opportunities and venues in Texas and beyond. With their first EP released in summer 2010, Day vs. Night. Our second EP is arriving very soon, look for it this fall.
D-FYANT is that new sound that everyone is craving for in these uncertain times. The Houston based band is a fresh new blend of rock and reggae, topped with catchy smooth vocals. They released their self titled cd in February of 2007. Within those 15 tracks was the gambit of what D-fyant is. From the beginning with “Fya Fya” and “Don’t You Understand”, the band establishes, quickly and convincingly, that no one genre can define the band. “No Wrongs” and “Gotta Know Your Name” showcase the motown influences of Colin, the lead singer. “Lost”, “Miserable”, and “Move On” show the influences of Kelly and Wayne, the guitarists. While “Flat Puppet” lets Nez, the keyboardist and Blakely, the drummer, cut loose on wild ideas. Injecting D-fyant with new passion is the recent addition of Taylor to our family. He is the utility man: back-up singer, guitarist, bassist, keyboardist, or percussionist as needed. He is joining the band as D-fyant suddenly lost a great man and friend, Earl Grey, in the winter of 2007. He was the bass player and co-manager of the band. His influence and energy has been greatly missed, though his spirit lives on with the members of D-fyant. D-fyant is quickly becoming known for their electrifying live shows. In Houston, the band has played Scout Bar, Fitzgerald’s, the Meridian, the Engine Room, Rudyard’s, the Cellar Bar, Jet Lounge and Javajazz. They have also performed at the Pasadena Live Stock Show & Rodeo, at a Houston Texans tailgating event by the GridIron Gillers, and at Relay for Life, an American Cancer Society fundraiser event that the band has performed at the last 2 years. Outside of Houston, the band has performed twice in Laredo, Tx, at GW’s Roadhouse and Average Joe’s, and in St. Louis, MO at SixFlags. D-fyant can currently be heard on the radio in Laredo and out of Corpus Christi.
