About Us:

* MMATS has a new, pop/rock sound similar to All Time Low or Mayday Parade. Mostly full band electric songs, with a few lighter acoustic tracks as well. A gig is a gig, we will play nearly anything that is asked of us. We have several originals (and are constantly working on more) and some covers. We will even play some requested songs (ask in advance). *

About Us:

Born into a musical family, Courtney grew up in the scenic fishing village of Annotto Bay, Jamaica where he spent his time listening to the melodious tunes of his uncles Winston and Beres Hammond and by the tender age of twelve he had already written and performed his first song. Through the coming years he honed his musical skills, attending regular jam sessions where he learned more about writing, arrangement and instruments. Driven by his desire for knowledge and success Courtney moved to Toronto to complete his education. Returning to Jamaica with a Business Marketing Diploma, Courtney was focused on his one and only passion - his music career. Determined to make his dream a reality he applied his talent and business knowledge as co-founder FiWi Music, a record label known for producing quality reggae music and his critically acclaimed debut album “Miracle” under the stage name “Yogie”. “Yogie” quickly became one of the hottest up and coming artists receiving international recognition with Top Ten Single ‘1 go Crazy’, ‘That Was Then’, ‘Brighter Days,’ and ‘Here Again’, featured on Reggae Hits 2001. Building on the success and attention of his debut album and furthering his career Courtney turned his sites and talents to writing, producing and collaborating with the industries top artists where he has received international recognition. Known as one of the best songwriters and producers in reggae today Courtney has consistently delivered successful remixes of many urban, and pop artists. Producing worldwide chart topping remixes such as Nelly Furtado’s “Turn of the Lights” and “Say it Right”, which also features his vocal talent, and Jarvis Church’s’‘Run For Your Life’. This multi talented artist has also produced tracks for Beenie Man, Anthony B, Determine, Sizzla, Lenn Hammond, Brah Yhan, Sonia Collymore and more. As a lyricist Courtney’s skills are clearly evident not only on his own romantic tracks but also in Beres Hammond’s smash hit, ‘Can’t Stop A Man’ and Marcia Griffiths Shining Time. Over the years, Courtney has grown significantly as a recording artist and music industry professional and in 2004 was featured in the New York Times Magazine Jamaica special, as one of reggae music’s artist to watch. Bringing together his multitude of experience Courtney is coming to the forefront once again with the debut of his much-anticipated album “Unselfish”. Already gaining momentum, music videos for “When You Say”, “Sometimes” and “Hey” have been added to Much More Music, BETJ, MTV Jams and Demand, VH1 Soul and Tempo and can be heard on radio stations around the world. Courtney is a confident and dynamic performer whose personal style is best described as a masterful blend of cool, earthy sensuality influenced by the singing styles of his uncles, who notably remain his major inspiration, but he is also quick to point to other artists such as Alton Ellis, Dennis Brown, Lionel Ritchie and Stevie Wonder as having impacted his musical career. Combining his talents as an artist, lyricist and producer Courtney looks forward to creating and delivering soulful reggae music for years to come.

About Us:

Eric "Mitty" Moore keeps the rhythm going with stylish bass lines. He'll walk a bass line right up the middle of the room and back again before you know what hit you. Be it a shuffle, a slow R&B , or something down and funky, he's right on the beat, providing a solid rhythmic foundation. Mitty plays left hand upside down bass with the Legendary Dukes and with many other bands, now he is playing is own show! Steve Lyons, is a hard-edged rockin' blues player in the tradition of Billy Gibbons, Stevie Ray Vaughan, and Duane Allman. Southern-style rock and blues that cuts "right to the bone". His dark-tinged vocals and nasty guitar tones recall the best of the Upstate NY hottest musicians. At his worst Steve sounds like a pre-pop-star Clapton filtered through southern sensibilities. At his best , he sounds purely like himself. His playing is impassioned; his deftness at picking quickly is matched only by the smoldering intensity of his playing. In short, Steve is one of the absolute best blues guitarists around Upstate NY today. A natural feel for playing blues on the guitar is not something learned out of a songbook, ya know, and it's even more challenging to find a group of musicians who can do blues and soul like it needs to be done and thats Steve Lyons. Mitty and Steve have played together for 22years with the Legendary Dukes and they still do. Paul Mastriani has been playing drums for over 20 years. He sits firmly in the pocket, punching out accents in the melody without overpowering the sound. Whether it's a shuffle or a ballad, the beat is right on and keeps your foot stomping. Throughout his career Paul has had the pleasure of performing all genres of music with big bands as a drummer, vibraphone and percussionist, to being a principal percussionist in several zydeco bands, like Redline Zydeco! He has experience with Steel Drum Bands and intimate settings with jazz combos. Paul also has traveled the Upstate,NY circuit with rock and pop bands, earning lots of valuable experience. With this wide variety of experience Paul has had the pleasure of sharing the stage with great musicans, and being Mitty's "secret weapon"!!! Organ Master Sammie Gruttadauria! There's nothing fancy about his music. It's basic to the bone, always swinging and steeped in blues and gospel. Sammie "G" says blues is about feeling. "That's the most important thing," he says. "During the past few years, a popular trend has taken hold in the jazz world, the comeback of the Hammond B-3 organ. Under the influence of the great Jimmy Smith in the '60's, the instrument had become so popular that it seemed that ever major city featured organ combos in their neighborhood bar. Then in the '70's, with the rise of the electric piano, synthesizers and disco rhythms, the organ went into a near complete eclipse, and almost became extinct".The man himself - Sammie "G" has played in many successful lineups over the years. He has an unequalled enthusiasm and perfectionism in his music. From Rockabilly through Blues to his latest powerhouse Blues style he is unequalled in his unique approach to high energy exciting jump R&B. Sammie G plays with the Beal Street Blues Band, the Reporter Band and helps other upstate bands.
