About US
About Us:

Imagine a band with off-key tempo's, incorporating weird time signatures, intense break-downs, off the wall transitions, and mega-energy. That is what Nothings Short of Everything brings to the table. It is a very eclectic style of music, with roots in Metal, Hardcore, punk, screamo, jazz, dance, etc. Their knack is to be different, to do things that people say 'they aren't supposed to do' in the music world. Nothings Short of Everything brings forth every human emotion (from love to hate, from happy to sad to anger, jealousy, betrayal, compassion, unity, companionship, etc) and channels it through their medium of the creative process called music. They are very passionate about their music and each other. They came onto the scene strong at the beginning of 2003, and there live show always brings something crazy. If you don't remember the name, you'll remember the show. "Growth comes from the life experiences you encounter on a day to day basis, we use these experiences as a foundation for creating a passion for life and then we channel it through our music". -Derek from NSE The History: My (lil' pup's) sister came home one day from work (Reno's west). She had some good news, 'This cook at my work is going to be calling you about forming a band'. You see, I had been in many bands before, with no luck in finding musicians with heart, drive, dedication, or determination. Nervousness immediately started to overtake my body, my heart pounding and my palms sweating. I hadn't jammed with anyone in so long; I wouldn't even know what to do. Sure enough, 'Felix the cat' ended up calling me minutes later. He insisted that we jam that very same day. His persistence was a little intimidating, but I was up for the challenge. So, he comes to my quiet suburban home, and crams into my little 'hole in the wall' bedroom with his equipment. We immediately hit it off; not only on a musical level but our personalities clicked (I could tell we were on the same page). That day we wrote the foundation of what is now the song, 'I tried to tell you, but you wouldn't listen'. Even though that song has changed tremendously throughout our evolution as a band, it created the base, the roots, of what is now Nothings Short of Everything. Felix brought in Dylan Chedester, a long time friend of his, to play bass. We answered an add in Music Manor ('Singer looking for metal band'). I threw into the mix a very good lady friend of mine as backing vocals, and we were off and running. Derek the 'Lil Pup' playing percussion, 'Felix the Cat' on guitar, Dylan on bass , Dan Martinez and Liz Garcia on vocals. For a while things were good, and we wrote a lot of material. Then things started to go sour, Dan had personal problems with the writing process and decided to leave the band, but on a good note. Dan is still my boy and I love that kid to death. Then, we had to split ways with Liz because she did not have the same drive or determination that we had, she agreed and left the band (again on a good note). She is still and will always be our sister, we love her. So, only the three musketeers were left and the first thing we did was put up an add for a singer. Regretfully, the majority of our auditions did not fit the kind of style we were looking for. Very good vocalists, the styles just didn't match. The more we looked the more we got frustrated with our endless search and almost came to the point of giving up. My wonderful girlfriend mentioned she had a life long friend, which had been in and out of bands but was looking. I knew this cat because I went to High School with him, but we were never on a personal page. He came out to a couple of rehearsals at the old Williamston storage facility (where we used to practice), and fell in love with our unconventionalism, the chaotic vocals would put a good emotional touch on the music we were trying to create. We all hit it off really well, and were excited to show people what we had to offer. Another speed bump presented its unfortunate self to us, Dylan left the band because of personal differences. Why he left is a very personal topic, but we love him very much and he will always hold a place in our hearts. After, that we decided to throw out every song, except two, and those two would eventually be totally re-written anyway. Tom, frequently visits Reno's and heard Felix was looking for a bass player, we threw what we had at him, and were amazed at his quick learning process and what he could add to the sound. We have been together for a year, playing all around the mid-west with acts like Misery Signals, Premonitions of War, Most Precious Blood, Know Lyfe, Bestiary, Summer Dying, Hope and Suicide, Signs of Collapse, From a Second Story Window, The Number Twelve Looks Like You, Ion Dissonance, Flesh and Blood Robot, Closer Than Far, Kenshiro, Fordirelifesake, End of All, And the Sky Went Red, Robinson, Into the Silence, and many more. The Purpose: Nothings Short of Everything is all about appreciating life for what it's worth and not letting anyone get in the way of your potential to have a happy and successful life. Living life to it's fullest without looking behind you, being true and honest to yourself and others. Because that is the way life should be lived. Appreciating all the things you have because tomorrow they could no longer exist. Joe our singer knows about this more deeply than anyone of us could imagine, because Joe was very close to loosing his own life. He will gladly share his experiences with you, if you ask him. Life is the basis for everything we do, and that is why Nothings Short of Everything.
