In the interest of time, we won't discuss the culinary, literal or even criminal justice definitions of Jam Sandwich. But rather the musical diversity of a little band from an area of the country called the Ark-la-tex. Jam Sandwich is a distinct uniting of hook-soaked; blues-drenched, funkiness, permeated with a sonic melange that refuses to be pigeon-holed. Their songs feature an enlivening sense of humor girded by an emotional urgency that belies the playful nature of their lyrics. Fans of JAM SANDWICHS' live performances cite the bands endless supply of infectious grooves, fearless improvisation and free-wheeling musicianship that attracts the devoted following. Jam Sandwich is most certainly, distinguishing itself as an essential part of the global musical pallette. As well as keeping a busy gig schedule, Jam Sandwich is currently in the studio producing their long-awaited full-length debut, not yet titled. This release, on the E.A.T. Label, will be followed by an extensive tour. “The magnitude of Jam Sandwich's vast potential can only be described as, beyond huge", says E.A.T. record exec, RJ Baker. We are Flashback, Your premier classic rock band playing the hits from the 50s, 60s, 70s, 80s, and beyond. We will provide your guests of all ages with a fun, lively dance that they will always remember! We charge $1,400.00 for a event dance. We have 5 musicians, (2 guitars, Keyboards, bass player and drummer) price includes a sound person. We play 4 hours, with 3 - 15 minute breaks. We also will provide you with access to our sound system during your reception and provide a microphone on a stand for speeches, toasts, etc. Also, you can play CDs or hook up a MP3 player for music during the reception and dinner. We are a fun, entertaining band that will have your guests dancing all night! We have references from other events we have performed, including the Grand Ballroom at the Hilton. Sam Mensch and the Bunkhouse Boys Sam and the Bunkhouse Boys have over one hundred and fifty years of combined experience playing county and western swing music. The Band consists of creator, front man and lead vocalist, Sam Mensch. Claremore’s own Bob Baker plays standup, non-pedal steel guitar. Dwayne Bowman, vocalist and lead guitarist has been a driving force in the country music scene for over four decades. In addition to leading his own band, he has played with the likes of Mel Tillis and Ray Price. Gary Hill plays bass and sings harmony vocals; he was also a member of Ray Price’s Cherokee Cowboys. The lineup is rounded out by 25 year Bunkhouse veteran Melvin Jackson on drums and champion fiddler Shawn Howe Sam Mensch Sam is a working cowboy with a love of good horses and good music. Born and raised in west Texas, Sam grew up in the saddle, working on ranches, surrounded by ranch life, and country and western music. With well over 25 years of experience behind a microphone Sam has performed all over Texas, New Mexico and Oklahoma. In 1986, like Bob Wills did 50 years before him, Sam made the move from Texas to Oklahoma. Sam says, “I grew up wanting to be a cowboy and a musician.” It looks like he has realized both of those dreams as he now leads Sam Mensch and the Bunkhouse Boys and owns and operates the Kissing S Ranch in Nowata County with his wife Sharon, and daughter Sammie. Bob Baker For his musical accomplishments, Bob was inducted into the Western Swing Hall of Fame in 2000. His 40 plus years as a professional musician has given him the opportunity to play with many remarkable musicians, including many of Bob Wills’ Texas Playboys. At 13 he began studying with Bob Wills’ legendary guitarist and arranger, Eldon Shamblin, and was a member of Leon McAuliffe’s last band, The New Cimarron Boys. In 1980, Bob and his brother Scott, founded The Baker Brothers Western Swing Band, and for a dozen years took western swing music to some of the largest music venues in the country. As a member of Cowjazz Western Swing he received two Academy of Western Artists, Will Rogers’ awards. Bob plays vintage music on his vintage, 1953 Fender, stand-up, steel guitar, and has played with Sam and The Bunkhouse Boys for 5 years. He and his wife Ann have called Claremore, OK home for 30 years.
Born and raised in the city of Lake Charles located in the Southwest corner of Louisiana, Ganey was surrounded by a variety of musical influences such as Cajun, Creole, Zydeco, Blues, Country & Western and Texas Swing. Ganey’s family migrated to this area in 1950s in search of work, but despite growing up nearly 100 miles from the hub of Cajun country, the music he creates is, without a doubt, Cajun. For nearly twenty years, Ganey has been involved in the Cajun music scene. In 1996, he joined the Grammy nominated group, The Basin Brothers, and played bass with them for nearly two years. It was late 1997 when Ganey joined Balfa Toujours, a group founded by the daughter of the world famous Cajun fiddler, Dewey Balfa. It was with this group that Ganey had the opportunity to tour the world. During his time with Balfa Toujours, he played traditional Cajun music is 43 states, Canada, England, Ireland, Mexico and the U.S. Virgin Islands. Some of the venues played during that time include the Newport Folk Festival, the Winnipeg Folk Festival, The Edmonton Folk Festival, MerleFest, The Vancouver Folk Festival, Festival Acadiens and the Festivale du Voyageur. Always a strong supporter of traditional Cajun music, Ganey doesn’t concern himself with being “Cajun enough.” As an artist, he believes that it is necessary to create from life experiences, and his life encompasses so much more than Cajun life. As an artist, Ganey can be summed up with three words. Songwriter. Musician. Cajun.
J.J. Essen has been a professional DJ and Musician for over 15 years. He specializes in private events that want a combination of both live music and dj services, without the hassle of dealing with multiple people. He will work side by side with you to ensure that you are getting exactly what you want musically for your special event. Maybe that means having a soft guitar/vocal for your wedding ceremony and then Dj the reception. Maybe have him play live for a cocktail hour at your corporate event or private party, then dj when the place gets a little more "rowdy." Maybe you have child's birthday coming up and you want entertainment for kids. No matter what the occasion, J.J. can customize a playlist specific to your event. He provides state of the art sound equipment and dj lighting as well and can take up very little space if need be. J.J. is an accomplished singer, songwriter, guitar player and as performed over 2000 shows over the years.
