ALCHEMY III BIO Jon Kaas and Phil Ivey first began playing in bands together in the eighth grade. They were influenced by punk, heavy metal, and then progressive rock bands like King Crimson. They played through high school with friends and bands in Nashville until graduation when Jon went into the Marine Corps for four years. In the 90s they both lived in California and formed various bands They played a mix of rock, metal and surf music. Phil went on to stay in California playing while Jon Played in a death metal band in Maine. Both Phil and Jon met back up in Nashville and tried to reform a band trying out several different drummers. They met Ron White through a Craigslist ad for a drummer and were soon playing regularly at Ron Whites studio in Dickson, TN. Ron White's talent on the drums and as a vocalist lead him to his first job in a band in the 60's Ron played throughout western Europe, England, the Mediterranean and North Africa. He continued to work the North American club circuit in various show bands playing drums , trumpet , fiddle and guitar. .. Initially called the JPR band, Jon, Ron, and Phil played several shows and often backed Rockabilly artist Ronnie Lee Twist. The band was renamed Alchemy III and the group continues to forge ahead playing shows with all original music that covered a wide spectrum of genres.
