Michael Myers is a new young breed of old traditional country music. With an awesome voice and great material, his name is becoming familiar all across the State of Texas.
Michael was raised in a musical family in the small Texas town of Dripping Springs and grew up listening to Bob Wills, Merle Haggard, Ray Price and Charlie Pride. The family not only listened to music -- they played music, sang music and danced to music, all of which was country.
Johnny Gimble, the great western swing fiddler is quoted as saying, 'When Michael sings, it hits you right in the gut! The last time I was impressed this way with an upcoming talent was when I first heard Merle Haggard.'
Allen Shamblin, the prize winning Nashville writer who wrote all the songs for Michael's debut CD 'Living for the Moment' said, 'I listened to the CD driving to the office and it blew my mind! Hes a winner. I love his voice . . . It excites me.'
Michael also competed in the first season of Nashville Star and was fortunate enough to make the top 25 out of 8,000 competitors nationwide. Although he did not make the televised show that aired on USA Network, he gained some great experiences and exposure.
Michael's second CD entitled 'Pedernales Summer' is a collection of originals written by Michael and Bobby Pounds and is a tribute to the country way of life. Growing up on a ranch overlooking the Pedernales River provided Michael with inspiration for many of his songs. His love of hunting, fishing and the country way of life are reflected in his music. While his debut CD was a collection of beautiful ballads, 'Pedernales Summer' is what Michael Myers is all about.
Michael has appeared with Tracy Byrd, the Bellamy Brothers, John Conlee, Ray Price, Ray Wylie Hubbard, Larry Gatlin and Bruce Robison to name a few, and has gained a reputation as playing some of the best two-steppin' music in and around Austin and the Texas Hill Country.
