About Us:

After countless nights listening to band on top of band, with one singer replacing another, occasionally a voice cuts through the sameness and just plain wakes you up. With a smokey Rock sound that is undeniably southern-fried, Sheri Frushay’s "take no prisoners" show leaves you wondering if the guys at the weather station spotted a twister on the radar. When this tall Texan straps on her guitar, its time to buckle up for the ride.

Born and bred in Austin, Sheri grew up on the road with her father-country hit maker from the 60’s Ray Frushay. Her own songs have the same simple honesty that makes you want to cry, or laugh, or just get up and dance. She sings with the Texas soul sound that blew the top off the charts in the 60’s and 70’s and forever changed the way women rocked. Sheri takes a bite out of southern rock and cooks it down with the heart of Texas music and dishes out a spicy, hot butt-shakin’ set that satisfies the soul. From roadhouse to roadshow, this is definitely not Sunday brunch music.

About Us:

Polk, Barton & Towhead began at the 1994 Kerrville Folk Festival when intuition told Kerry Polk to invite John Barton’s family to share her campsite. The two exchanged numbers and have been musical partners ever since. PB&T perform as a duo, but can be expanded to a trio or eclectic quartet. Towhead symbolizes the fearlessness of a child; all innocence, optimism and hope.

Both Polk and Barton cite Joni Mitchell as an early musical influence resulting in a lyrical attention to detail while emotionally charting the highs and lows of relationships lived and lost. The Austin Chronicle calls their debut CD, The Way Things Are , "a self-contained primer of contemporary folk, ... touch(ing) on Iris Dement, Son Volt, Kelly Willis, and Bob Dylan to sculpt their own milieu of thoughtful lyrics and rustic moods."

Polk, Barton & Towhead have played various events and venues including Threadgill’s Sittin’ and Singin’ for Supper, Waterloo Ice House, the Saxon Pub, Manuel’s Mexican Restaurant, The Electric Lounge, The Tibetan Resettlement Project Benefit, Cafezino, The Coffee Plantation, Borders Books & Music, Friend’s Fest ’97, Saradora’s Coffee Emporium, and Hang ’Em High Saloon.
