The Delta Flyers provide a full evening of original acoustic blues with flavorings from Louisiana through the Mississippi Delta and on up to Chicago. Occasionally traditional songs and material by such artists as Muddy Waters and Howlin' Wolf will be added to the Mix.
If you are looking for authentic original toe-tapping music from the Deep South, Stevie DuPree and The Delta Flyers deliver the goods, from Blues to Bluegrass.
Hailing from Houston, Texas, DuPree’s musical career first took roots in the fertile fields of San Francisco in the 1960’s. Throughout the 60’s, DuPree played in local bands in the Bay Area and started honing his singing and songwriting skills.
In 1972, DuPree returned to Texas and performed his original Folk and Blues compositions in Texas and the surrounding states through the mid 80’s. His experiences in Louisiana are still reflected in his work today. In 1985, DuPree left the performing arena to concentrate on Songwriting.
2003 saw Stevie DuPree return to the music scene with his songwriting partner from the 70’s. With fresh material in hand and a good backing band, Stevie DuPree and The Dudes hit the streets of Houston and went to work. Two CD’s were released, “Nothing But The Truth” and “Soulbilly Music – Volume One”. Songs from these CD’s continue to receive airplay on internet and ground based radio stations worldwide. Live performance highlights included opening for Big Daddy Gumbo Tommy DarDar, and an appearance at the Hawg Stop Blues Festival in 2005. The Dudes also traveled to England in 2005 and played to full houses in London and in the Winchester area.
In 2006, DuPree delivered a solo album, “Delta Flyer” which has received well earned reviews both in the United States and abroad. Whether relating a personal experience from his travels, or a tall tale, DuPree is a storyteller capable of transporting the listener to the scene of the crime. DuPree’s soulful voice and tasty harmonica work make the story complete. The music spans many different genres, but the Blues is always the foundation.
2007 saw the release of “On The Levee Road” and a chance to represent the Houston Blues Society and Southeast Texas at the 24th annual International Blues Challenge held in January of 2008 in Memphis, Tennessee.
Stevie DuPree has now joined forces with songwriter and guitarist, Travis Stephenson to form the core of The Delta Flyers. The result is a unit that delivers dynamic, memorable performances. Whether it’s gritty, Reso driven Blues from the Mississippi Delta or upbeat boogie straight out of the roadhouses of Texas and Louisiana, The Delta Flyers bring it every time.
