Austin's own Alibi plays original Funky Smooth Jazz, rockin' blues, jazz greats,smokin'arrangements of other great songs. This great 6 piece super star band features a blistering horn section accompanied by a rumblin' rhythm section with great entertaining vocals. ALIBI is currently performing in and out of town at places like (Redds Jazz Supper Club, Sullivans Ringside, NXNW just to name a few).

Phil's original, copyrighted compositions include: "Telluride Falls"; "All in Living"; "Found the Girl"; "Main Squeeze"; "Come and Go with Me"; "Me and He"; "Turn Your Frown Upside Down".
Phil lists his main influences as Lyle Mays, Jimmy Smith, Otis Spann, Ray Charles, and Herbie Hancock.
Phil worked with John Lee Hooker's backup band and opened for Albert King, The Dregs, Taj Mahal and Stevie Ray Vaughn and has been featured on several Austin music television specials. Phil was also on keyboards when the DellTones won the Austin, TX High Tech Battle of the Bands in 1998.
TRUMPET
Ray Strucker was born in Florida and raised in Southern California where he grew up playing with local big bands, rock bands, and entertainment groups in the Los Angeles area. He is a graduate of the University of the Pacific in Stockton, CA. He writes arrangements, has recorded for many artists in the Austin area, and is a founding member of the Triggermen Horn Section, Austin, TX.
BASS
Russell Kenji Shores was born in New York has a varied and
impressive resume. Nick-named Thor for his thunderous
grooves, he began playing bass at age twelve. Armed with a degree in music, he started his professional career. Russell has
shared the stage with Diana Ross ,Julian Lennon, Unified Tribe, The
Kevin Fowler band, Lucid Dream, The Steve O" Neil band, The Major
Burkes band, The ACC Jazz band , The Blues Specialists, Elliott
Fikes and Soul Serenade, The Freedom Home Baptist Church Mass
Choir, Loose Shoes, and the hot new band Alibi. Russell is also on
staff as the electric bass teacher at the Academy of Music in
Austin Texas.
SAX
Steve Bernstein has been playing saxophone since age 14 and has played in a variety of bands since. His recording career began at age 18 when he recorded an album on Atlantic. He moved to Austin from Philadelphia in 2000. He considers himself a 'blues' sax player but was initially inspired by jazz artists, specifically John Coltrane.
He has shared the stage with The Who, Jefferson Airplane, Buddy Guy, Koko Taylor, John Lee Hooker, & Charlie Musslewhite to name just a few. He has played with W. C. Clark, Tito Puente, Joe Cuba, & It's a Beautiful Day as well as many others. He has appeared on several TV shows including The Dinah Shore Show, Mike Douglas, and The Jim Nabors Show.
Steve also writes original compositions as well as horn arrangements.
DRUMS
Mike Kosacek has over 20 years of experience in original and cover bands as well as studio recording playing many styles of music including rock, blues, jazz, reggae, and country. Mike has played live and/or recorded with artists such as: Johnny Apollo and the Saturn Seven, Steve Alexander, Johnny Reverb and Dream House, The Blades, The Sibling Rivals, Timmy and the Timebombs, Murry Woods and Tangled Blue, Junior Medlow, The Lords of Love (with Jesse Taylor), Black Coffee, Natalie Zoe, Memphis Train, Joanna Howerton, L.A. Jones and the Blues Messengers, The Doc Hogan Band, The DellTones, Malachi, Elliott Fikes and Soul Serenade, and Derrall Gleason. With these bands, Mike has opened or shared the stage with bands such as Bobby Blue Bland, Storyville, the Booze Weasels, and Human Rights (ex-Bad Brains singer H.R.).
Mike helped to lead the DellTones to a 1998 win in the Austin, TX High Tech Battle of the Bands and he also played snare drum in high school and college level marching (corp style) bands.
Mike produced the first Alibi CD (Live at the Roadhouse) using Pro tools to mix and master the CD and he is working on an upcoming solo CD with his own original compositions. Mike also has his own recording studio.
GUITAR
Born in Santa Fe, New Mexico, an accomplished musician, singer, songwriter, musical arranger, Paul Haake, has been playing guitar all over the world for over 37 years.
Paul moved from the San Diego California area to Austin in 1980 and immediately started playing and recording with many artists within the local Austin music scene.
At one point, started his own band --- The Paul Haake Band --- which resulted in three albums that proved to be highly successful in Austin during the mid-eighties.
In the past 25 years Paul has played and/or recorded with established local Austin bands such as: LOADED DICE, PONTY BONE, THE BLUES SPECIALISTS, ELLIOTT FIKES AND THE SOUL SERENADE, MACUMBA LOVE, NANCY SHANNON, AND ARTHUR BROWN.
Paul has also shared the stage, at one time or another, with such renowned artists such as: ERIC JOHNSON, JAMES COTTON, BRIAN SETZER, GEORGE THOROGOOD, ROBERT CRAY, SPANKY AND OUR GANG, SUE FOLEY, CHRIS DUARTE, GATEMOUTH BROWN, MERLE HAGGARD, LOU ANN BARTON, THE CONNECTORS, DEE PURKEYPILE, SMOKEY JOE MILLER, JOE ELY, DAVID GRISSOM, THE TAILGATORS, JESSE TAYLOR, to name just a few.
7 Come 11 Productions is the name of Paul Haake's music entertainment Production Company (established in 1987) in which he has copy written over 125 original compositions.
Paul has now joined forces with this group of musical titans to form the band ---- ALIBI ---- A Funky Smooth Jazz experience with a hint of R&B.
